Howard Resh has the coolest job. Who is he? He is the garden guy for this place.
This is his office.
Dr. Resh created the systems responsible for growing all the amazing vegetables that are consumed at the luxury Cuisinart Resort. He uses hydroponics and reading about the system that he has set up is simply fascinating. This article by Dr. Resh takes us through a fascinating tour of the greenhouses. Interestingly, Did you know that in a comparison of the nutritional value between vine-ripened and green tomatoes, ripe tomatoes have from two to five times as much Vitamin A and in excess of five times as much Vitamin B6. And being in the tropics, seasons do not convey so the production is year round and the plants are rotated at they tire.
Howard has a whole collection of books and tools for recreating his gardening successes at his website. Hydroponics is nothing new, but I have to admit being a dirt digger, I don’t know too much about it and am eager to learn. I think it is worth a lot of thought for roof gardens and functional gardens for hotels and resorts to grow their own produce. Have you tried hydroponics?
