Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat…..

Bats in the garden — Oh Yes! and not just for Halloween. Encouraging them will help with insect control and pollination and their droppings (guano) is one of the best natural fertilizers you can find. Christoper Williams has written a great little ezine article about the benefits of bats in your garden. In honor of halloween, I have found some interesting bat things…..I love this ‘Bat Castle from the Backyard Bird Company

I found this picture of a Bat house in Iraq on the Blog of Gritty Kitty. Gritty Kitty is one of my new heroes. SHE is a Naval Flight officer who was serving in Iraq until at least May of this year…I am assuming that she is home safe now and it is for that reason that she not blogging about her Iraqi adventures. I used to be in the Navy with Flying aspirations…so she sorta rocks my world. Anyway, this bat house made her top 30 list of things she would miss about Iraq when she returned home. Iraqis must know know great bats are. Iraqis build cool buildings especially for bats. How eye-opening and enlightening. I hope Iraq will be safe enough to go explore soon.
