I am feverishly putting the final touches to an article due tomorrow about school yard gardens, but I wanted to share another garden that I came across in my research that isn’t making it into the story — not because it isn’t up to snuff…no, this is amazing– but rather because it is really only a food garden (and not also a school yard garden).
You can see it is on quite a steep hill and is part of a winery in California. Ryan Meyers transformed it into a stunning hillside garden. A much nicer, but small and rather unfulfilling image of it was featured in this months Garden Design magazine. So I thought I would share a few more images from Ryan’s website.
It even comes with a funicular railway up one side that is also used for the neighboring vineyards. I would love to see the garden harvest come in on the tiny little train carts. Can you imagine a cart full of giant cabbages, or zucchini and other summer squash?
