Before & After: Abby and Adam’s Backyard Bliss

backyard, fence, new, makeover, transformation, before and after

Whenever Abby or Adam looked into their backyard, they were greeted by a hideous rotted wood fence that was far from any sort of privacy shield. Being new homeowners, they were big on ambition and change, and also slightly motivated by their neighbor’s two-tone, half painted house. To their neighbor’s defense, I too am sporting a two-tone house, and I am less than proud of going through another winter this way…..but you know how things go. Ahem, at any rate, the two of them got to work and soon they were well on their way to the backyard they had envisioned.

After installing a new fence and hauling 7 yards of crushed rock, their backyard began to resemble a space that was a little more welcoming. They built a new fire pit and added a few places to relax, which can be seen from other angles of the yard over on their blog. They planted some flowers and helped their grass along, and soon enough they had yard they could be proud of. Nice job, Abby and Adam! I’m always a fan of backyard makeovers that are done on a budget. -erin

  1. I must have missed the “makeover” part. A couple of plastic flamingos, 2 chairs and some gravel? Really?

A Quick Question

I posted a one question survey on the Studio ‘g’ Facebook Page  because I’m wondering what kind of  posts you like most. I am surprised by the results so far (lots of DIYers!). Would you mind popping over there and taking a second to register your opinion?  Because I’m a little startled by the results, (but loving…

Before & After: Karen’s Pond

Did you see this over at Design Sponge last week?   I have to say, I love a garden created by a girl like Karen.  I am inspired by her to start digging my own pond (something I am perfectly capable of doing but never actually considered undertaking).  Who needs a contractor (right)!! (or wrong!?!) Karen…

Daily Garden 037: Bertotti Landscape -Bardessono Hotel

I should just go ahead and feature the Bardessono hotel as a garden destination…I will get to that. But first I want to keep celebrating the interesting work that some garden pros have done there. Bertotti Landscape Built this great walkway. I love the mix…flagstone, to wood, to poured concrete. Black rocks mix with sleek…
