Before & After: Brad’s Backyard Cleanup

before, backyard, overgrown, fix, cleanup

I’m all about low cost improvements, especially when they can be achieved without much more than a couple days of weeding, pruning and mulching. Brad’s yard was in serious need of de-jungling, and the end result looks 10 times better. It’s a great reminder that you don’t need much cash or even handy skills to make your yard, or even just parts of your yard, look better.

after, backyard, cleanup

A stone path was brought to the surface after some simple clipping and the patio was weeded and brushed off. The 2 beds are no longer part of an endless carpet of grass and the bushes have all been trimmed. Mulch was added and a photo was taken….and really, that’s about all that was done. I love makeovers like this! –erin

Before & After: A Visionary Pondside Garden

Before & After: A Visionary Pondside Garden

The only thing I am scratching my head about is the mosquito issue that this garden surely has.  New England is bad for bugs in the summer and if you have a still pond at the end of your garden, it has to be insufferable.   Clients of mine reported good results with the commercial application…

Daily Garden 015 & 016

Chicago Specialty Gardens is doing some interesting work.  I love these two images from their portfolio.  The stacked wood focal point seems like an economical but arty way to deal with a big boring wall on a rooftop. This garden design is appealing because for some reason I have a thing for square pavers set…

Before & After: A California Yard Becomes Dog-Friendly

Before & After: A California Yard Becomes Dog-Friendly

I always appreciate the thought that goes into all these great makeovers we feature on Studio ‘g’, but some of my favorites are the ones that add beauty and function. Tandra and Eric live in Sacramento, California, and they were faced with a yard that just wasn’t working for them. What was supposed to be…
