Before & After: Melissa’s Cozy Front Yard Face Lift

before, house, landscape, yard

I found myself over at Melissa Brandman’s photography blog a few weeks ago while I was scouting for great before & after. 20 minutes later and I was lost in a sea of gorgeous photos. Eventually I remembered that I was only there for the front yard makeover google had brought me to. Needless to say, I’ve been back to her blog a few more times since then– one of the best parts, and biggest time sweepers, about combing the internet for a great before and after is that I end up coming across a lot of pretty amazing people. And most of the time, these amazing people have done some pretty inspiring outdoor projects. Take this front yard for example; what was once a flat and lifeless stretch of landscape has been stirred into a yard that’s lively and welcoming.

after, before and after, landscape, garden, yard, rehab, makeover, plant, tree, house

Lots of plants, shrubs and trees now line the perimeter of the driveway and soften the feel of the front yard. A path was added and a fence was installed to the right of the house as well. I really like the repetition in plants and the interesting trees, as well as the curved border that gives more flow to the left of the yard. I’d love to see this house in 10 years from now, when the trees and plants have matured. Lovely job, Melissa- it really feels like a whole new house! -erin

  1. Wow, you can see the transformation on the landscaping, even the surface looks brighter. I’d love to see it when the flowers and the shrubs are fully grown.

Zip Lines (Trend?)

Zip Lines (Trend?)

Have you noticed that zip lines are kinda popping up every where?  Indy 500, Super Bowl, parks, back yards (I have one), — I think we are  (and are going to) see more and more of them. Last fall my husband and spent a weekend in NYC with our necks craned, imagining how cool it…

Seeds from Italy

Do you travel to eat?  I do. My husband and fondly remember many meals…and when I say meals, I am not just talking about the time, the place the ambiance – though they are all part of it….but the actual food and the minute details of it.   Like once, on a snow boarding trip to…

Daily Garden: 052 – In the Gutter

Gutters! Perfect for a small area, or a warm wall.   Grow Vegetables or perhaps some pretty dangle-y flowers (can you imagine nasturtiums?)  Found via Katy Elliot and originally at Juneau Empire. p.s. apparently this has made the blog rounds…please accept my apologies for being a johnny-come-lately, but it is just such a great idea!
