The Rest of Shelley & Jack’s Garden

May 25, 2009

I have come to realize that like so many areas of my life, I am starting to get a bit disorganized and let clutter build up. I have lots of draft posts for this blog that I just haven’t finished….so here are a few in an effort to clear out. Remember last weekend, I was helping a friend in VA with her garden…here is the, as promised, rest of the design. It took us a few hours to put this all together but it was the most fun I have had designing in a while…and the best part was the champagne break at the end.

In Jack and Shelley’s new addition a fireplace with a brick chimney will back up the garden.  We have decide to make a feature of it by mounting this screen from Parasoliel on the wall.

We are working out how to light it for night time (uplit or backlit? hmmm…).

Our plan is to plant lavender at the base (the garden as you see in my previous post has a purple, yellow, white planting scheme)  and then add a purple clematis to climb up one side.   The screens are beautiful. This  3 x 8 copper screen (which we will turn on its side) is less than $1000 shipped so we are feeling pretty good about it.

The accents in the garden are orange (Shelley’s fav. color).  So I have given them a few ideas for container plants that will be planted in the 26″ and 36″ versions of the Madison planter (one of my garden favorites) from Crescent. These are really great lightweight planters at a great price.

I love color lovers…I wrote an article for the June issue of Landscape Middle East about inspiration…in it I highly recommended the whole color lovers site… have you seen the color inspirations taken from salt flats?….amazing.
