Weekend Things

air traffic controller dave munro

I am spending this weekend in the garden (if that bitter wind would just stop!).  There is a mountain of compost/mulch (a 50/50 mix) on my driveway that I mindlessly threaten to hit with my car every time I pull out of the garage.   It needs to be spread and it’s going to take a while– a whole days work of weeding and spreading barely got me through a quarter of it.

have a great Sunday….

Placing Garden Art & Bluegreen’s Captured Zen Garden

Real art, (as opposed to what is commonly referred to by retailers as ‘garden art’ — don’t ask me how I define the difference, because I don’t exactly know, I just know it when I see it)  placed in the landscape is skill unto itself.   This ‘Captured Zen’ garden by Bluegreen realizes various ways to…

Daily Garden 058 & 059 : The Surfers’ Gardens

Surfing is one of those things I really (really really) want to learn to do.  I love surfer culture and want to enjoy the ocean in this fun way.  I always enjoy vacations where I have an activity (other than just walking the streets of my destination) that physically exhausts and taxes me to a…

Wee Planets: A New way to Look at a Landscape.

I am utterly fascinated with the Wee planets series of images that computer scientist gadl created on flickr.   Beautiful right? What are you looking at?  It is called a Stereographic projection made from a 360° panorama built from 46 (more or less) pictures.   This one was created from images taken at La butte aux canons…
