As you can see, this re-model has progressed significantly and at the moment I’m sitting with it. As I am starting to get back into regular posting, there are things that I am loving and other things I am not 100% sure will stay.
Like the boxes at the top. I want to visually break this site into the things that matter to me and inspire me and also make it easy to jump and in see what is going on here, but I am not 100% sure this is doing what I hoped. It all seems a bit static and the more I look at it the more constricting it feels.
I’m wondering what you think about the changes so far. I’d love some feedback on anything you see here. What are you liking – disliking – finding inspiring and dispiriting? Go ahead and share – this is work in progress, I’d love a little design input.
You have such style, so this does seem “static” compared to your usual dynamism. How brave of you to solicit opinion. I know the current design trend is FLAT FLAT FLAT, so that may be what you are aiming at.
For me, this doesn’t have your usually arresting visual pizzazz.
So keep at it! Far be it for me to offer anything in the way of concrete advice. All I’ve got to offer is my visceral reaction. What else were you thinking of doing to it?
Although I I found your site through Dirt and Simple, I’m local to the Boston area and find your dilemma and question to be compelling. I’m forever looking for a better layout for The Bedford Citien, although Carlisle Center Park and Bedford’s First Parish Plant & Craft Fair seem well-served by common (and somewhat aged) WordPress.com themes. If you’re interested in a chat, I would be as well.
BUT my primary reason for writing, is to learn whether you’re going to have an events calendar where I can list the Plant Fair, and also if Pith would be a place to tell the story of Sabrina Perry who founded Carlisle Center Park and brought it to life with Maria van Brincken’s help.
Either way, all the best in your venture!
