Do you know a bit about the significance of Stonehenge? While there are lots of mysteries about the site, one of the most interesting things is that the sun aligns perfectly with the stones during the solstices. This is one of the things I love about outdoor design, there are no walls and you can bring the heavens and the stars and sun and all the things around in nature into the design. Thinking about ways to do this and bringing greater meaning to a site is really inspiring to me.
These thoughts are brought on by a post at Loft Life Magazine that I found by way of one of my blogging class friends, Discover Interior Design In Manhattan, two times per year (in May and in July –this year will be on Sunday May 31st)…the setting sun will align with the east west streets in the cities main street grid creating beautiful vistas. A single momentary event worth paying attention to.
That is so cool. I learned something new today. What beautiful pictures too.
