This is really a great idea don’t you think?….all the better that JunkMama1 got these three chairs for free.
I have so many leftovers of decking that making this bench would a snap — and if used in the garden that has the same wood, it could add up to a very modern look.
Images from junk market style.
very pretty and clever. I’m thinking of how to adapt it to make an ornamental outdoor weight bench. Doesn’t everybody want one? 😉 for the active garden!
It needs two strong chair backs, facing each other, to rest a weight bar (check height), then the end of the bench needs to be accessible to hang over for various lifts. Maybe put the uprights where the middle chair is, to make it more aesthetically balanced. The seat area would be the same length, but a little deeper, to accommodate shoulders between the uprights. and a little dumbbell rack under the seat.
and maybe go with the cushion made of stacked yoga pads cut to fit, and covered in a washable twill. With ruffles and flounces, just because.
I was randomly searching the web for pictures of 3 chairs and WaLa! What a unique and great idea! Love it!
I LOVE this idea! Sharing with my Friends!
May all your gardens grow!
I LOVE this!! I am going to look for chairs and do this.
Thanks…..going to share this with friends!
I saw something like this but the seat had padding and was covered with a cool fabric. Fantastic! Now I can make one of my own for my entry hall, thanks!
Hello, Thank you for sharing our first chair bench on your blog. There is actually quite a story behind this bench. We auctioned it off to raise money for the Susan G Komen 3 Day for the Cure. The winner of the auction, Jennifer E. was the childhood friend of one of my 3 Day team mates who was fighting breast cancer at the time, Selena Seymour. I delivered the bench to Selena’s apartment and placed it on the wall by her front door and it was as if the bench had been created to fit there. Jennifer arrives days later at a Selenas to pick up the bench, they catch up on old times, they have a good cry about Selena’s situation as Jen had lost a son to cancer. As Jen leaves she decides to gift the bench to Selena, as she could see what I saw the day I delivered it, it was as if the bench was meant to be apart of Selena’s home. Selena passed away from breast cancer in early October 2010, I miss her to this day. Jen is now apart of our 3 Day Team and we’ve become good friends..we both walk and raise money to honor Selena’s Memory. So, this bench brings back wonderful memories and I’m glad you all enjoy it. And I’m thankful for Pinterest, otherwise I wouldn’t have known so many people repinned these photos! XOX Claudia PS I’m still working towards finding a cure by raising money and walking 60 miles!
Wow Claudia — What a wonderful story, thanks for sharing. I am glad you found this too and it brought back such memories. R
