Cleaning Cleaning Cleaning (my computer files)…and coming across so many links to things I don’t want to forget….among them is Wild at Heart….my local flower shop when I lived in London. It was located just up the street in what is know as Turquoise island. Apparantly in 1993, – before I moved there – the neighbors banded together against the plan to put a ‘Portaloo’ on our local traffic island. Good thinking…the residents of Westbourne Grove commissioned celebrated architect Piers Gough to design something more elegant. The result was Turquoise Island. At one end are the famous lavatories, a landmark for cabbies and tourists alike, while the other end is host to a hive of colourful activity- the Wild at Heart flower shop.
Nikki Tibbles and her crew create beautiful things… you can literally sit in the cafe across the street and watch the place buzz with creation and customers coming and going with beautiful blooms. Here are only a few of my favorite Wild at Heart Creations….
This brought back fond memories for me. I lived at the corner of Westbourne Grove and Colville Road from 2003-2005. I used to walk past it everyday on my way to work. Always beautiful. I couldn’t believe the designers worked outside all winter!
