Garden Gallery: Mariana’s Swedish Country Garden

swedish country garden

This lovely garden belongs to Mariana Sjoberg who lives in Sweden.  She writes about her garden at  M/S DESIGN Trädgård och Keramik.

I am craving all things Swedish at the moment. From the stereotypical spare bright and simple interiors to Ikea style (does every one in Sweden’s house look like that?) I am loving the simplicity that it all seems to imply.  The gardens also hold great appeal to me.   They are earthy and a little bit wild, and the light…..I wish I had light like that in Massachusetts.

Epimedium wushanense

It was around 15 years ago when I first heard about the genus Epimedium. This was while we lived in North Carolina and I worked at Plant Delights Nursery. Here was an evergreen groundcover that flowered, could grow in the shade, and was pretty tough. Since that time, whenever I hear anyone talk about Epimedium…

DIY: Solar Light Jars

I am so excited to give this DIY project a try for the summer.  Lifehacker has put together a great how to for creating beautiful garden lights, powered purely by the sun.  The total cost is short money – particularly if like me, you already have lots of jars to spare (think about all those…

Inekehans Garden Furniture

Inekehans Garden Furniture

Plastic For the Garden! I never thought you would have heard it from me! The Inekehans Collection is so clever though, using 100% recycled plastic, and claiming not to fade, it is available in black or yellow; add some cushions and the garden could be styled in a multitude of ways. There is a coordinating…
