So I am back from what will probably one of the biggest events of my lifetime, and I am not really sure what to say. I was thinking about it the whole way home and I am still at a bit of a loss.
I hate to be goofy but I am proud to be an American. Not just because we have a leader that I think has the ability to take the office that he has been given and use it not just to help all of us in this country, but the entire world. But also because what I experienced on the national mall on Monday and Tuesday was really extraordinary. It is really still sinking in.
The crowd of people that were in attendance were the nicest, politest, diverse, happy, positive (except for when booing our 43rd president), patient, helpful and ready group of 2 million people I have ever been a part of. The mass of humanity made leaving the mall a process that took hours. Normally it would have taken only a couple minutes to walk, but as we stood shoulder to shoulder shuffling along with baby steps, (perhaps there is some symbolism here) I could feel the the words of our new president’s speech sinking in to the people around me and myself.
Still sinking in….because I am not sure what to do now. I am ready to be part of greater good and do what ever I can to help us collectively get out of this mess. You got me Mr. Obama…but I need a little direction. I am a mom, a designer, a blogger, a farmers market manager, and a business owner…I know there is something that in each of these roles I can be doing, but it hasn’t quite congealed for me yet. I am working it over in my head….what about you? How are you feeling? What are you going to do to help make change? I am so curious to hear….and if you have some ideas for me….please…bring it on…I am ready.

Oh and one last thing….if you are in the greater DC area and have a landscape company, there is a whole lot of trampled plants throughout DC….I would particularly stock up on box shrubs, liriope and English Ivy. I never knew, BTW, that English Ivy has such a wonderful earthy green scent when crushed. I could go for a room spray with this scent. It really was lovely.
I am working on uploading and processing all my pictures…and will share them…check back soon… for now though…I need to head to a clients property on cape cod…have a great day!
Awesome collage, can’t wait to see the photos…
I love the collage, Rochelle! I wish I could make that my computer’s wallpaper….
