I think if I had a Benjamin Graindorge and Duende Studio designed Floating Garden, I might actually allow my kids to have fish pets.
How great is this 100% natural water filtration system for aquariums based on hydroponics? Using the same science as Eco-pools, and natural systems in real ponds, the plants sit in a cushion of sand above the aquarium that naturally filters and cleans the water. The result is a cross between a decorative glass vase and a water purifying plant.

The floating garden uses two techniques for eliminating nitrate wastes voided by fish; Gravel-bed filtration which uses the sand bed to trap suspended waste and aquaponics whereby the roots extract nitrates to sustain plant growth, leaving the water returning to the tank pure.
What is the source for that short papyrus?
(Or did they do what I think they did and stuck cuttings in at the ‘right’ proportions?
very cool 🙂
It’s quite lovely! Did you manage to find anyone that’s selling it? Google isn’t being very helpful right now.
Also, you may want to look at what people are doing with planted aquariums these days. Same basic idea, only with completely aquatic plants. Probably more expensive and more fiddly on the upkeep than a system like this, but they are really beautiful. The Aquatic Gardener Association has some awesome stuff.
Great site you have here.. It’s difficult to find excellent writing like yours these days. I truly appreciate individuals like you! Take care!!
