Ok. I won’t be tricking you into thinking this transformation is a one year makeover. That would be impossible and utterly misleading. But since Landscape Designer Andrew Grossman’s blog is called A Year in the Garden, I went with that for the title….even though this was a 1998 to recent, 12 years in the making kind of before and after.
Makeovers with time lines like this always make me feel better. When I visit beautiful gardens I am always saddened by the mess that my own project currently is. But my own garden has only been influenced by me for 5 years. It has been a remarkable change and while the first few years were really rough — feeling often more like stepping backwards rather than forwards, I am finally starting to feel like we are moving forward and our projects have morphed from removal, destruction and cleanup to actually putting in, making beautiful, tweaking, and maintaining for evolution. I have high hopes for my own place given another 7 years. This really is what garden making is all about….the long haul…
And just one more thing….thank you, once again, Louise, for introducing me to a great source.

Gorgeous transformation. Yes, it’s all about the long haul.
