Finding beautiful people like Thea Alvin and sharing them with you is one of the simple reasons for me writing this blog everyday. I know that not everything or everyone here is as extraordinary as Thea, but, well, we all have some days that are better than others.
I am blown away by the amazing helical stone walls and arches that Thea has built in her front garden. Like me, she tends to bring home remnants from projects (mine tend to be plants and random hardscape materials) hers tend to be stone, that she molds into graceful sweeps. My husband always jokes with me that if I am really a good designer, I will be able to make something beautiful from everyone elses cast offs….it’s a challenge….but clearly, Thea is a really good designer.
Over time, as projects have migrated home, this helical structure has evolved from one arch to three.
Thea’s amazing stone work has been installed all over the world, but her home is in Vermont. You can see her quirky farm house and some of the creations she has in her own garden as well as a whole bunch of other videos of her many projects and artistic endeavors on Thea’s Youtube channel.
LOVE her! how lucky are you that thea lives close and teaches her trade! (can’t help but think of the brit andy goldsworthy (“rivers and tides” doc on netflix, slow but miraculous art!). great post!!!
