I have this funny sensation as I write about this garden — I’m writing about my boss’s home (should I watch what I say?)….but it is weird to think of Maxwell Gillingham Ryan in that way. Yes, I do write for the website that he started – Apartment Therapy – but what he has created is a fantastically inspiring team of people and he is a truly admirable leader (and I’m not just saying that because, you know, he is technically my boss)….and I just don’t think of it as a boss-employee kind of thing.
The fact is, I’ve never even met Maxwell…the business is run nearly completely online. I’d like to, I’d like to visit his garden in the Hamptons….it’s been featured in the NY Times today and it is a charming place that exudes everything that Maxwell espouses. Relaxed design, approachability, and a can-do attitude toward creating the living space that best suits you.
The whole article is well worth reading and there are lots more pictures of the garden and the interior.
