In 2008 the state of New York imposed new regulations on all government-owned properties – no longer would pesticide usage be allowed. Peter Kukielski, the rosarian-curator of the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden at the New York Botanical Garden, had to find new ways to keep more than 650 rose varieties pest free.
