I have been pounding my head against the metaphoric wall this morning (or perhaps I should say computer screen).
I have so many things to share, but my gallery function is simply not working (have you noticed? when you click an image it just hangs and you never get to see the image in full size). This is one of those painful computer problems where the resolution seems to lie deeply buried under piles and piles of code snippets that create a site such as this. I fear that this sudden lack of function is just the tip of an iceberg that will soon to overwhelm me. But since I don’t have the time or the mind power to try and fix it…I am opting to move around the problem and try a different gallery plugin — can anyone recommend a great wordpress gallery tool for displaying images? I could use some help.
I am (regardless) going to upload a gallery of these fantastic containers even though I know that it won’t work if you click on them (yet)…but if you would like to see more images (even more than I have here) you can hop over to the Obbligato website. Not only do they make to order these beautiful planters, but they have an amazing collection of stainless steel, beaded and acrylic plants that you can ‘plant’ in places where real plants just won’t grow. I love them.

LOVE!
I like your blog! I’ve RSS’ed it now for a few years. It looks like your installation of WordPress combined with the theme you’re using or even perhaps a new plugin you’ve installed is causing some type of conflict.
My best guess without digging much deeper into your source files would be that there’s some kind of jquery conflict caused by a recently installed plugin that is interfering with the “gallery” class attribute that WordPress assigns to wordpress galleries. If another plugin uses that class and tells it to perform in a way that differs from the pop-up jquery lightbox effect; that may be the problem.
My recommendation would be to deactivate recently added plugins (or updated ones) working backward to see if that works.
Again, I like your blog, so this advice comes free and, as free advice goes, without warranty!
Thanks brandon — I think you are right — but my problem is that I recently upgraded my version of WP and think that is when the problem started….so am having a hard time figuring which plug-in is the issue since I haven’t really touched them. Going to try and un-install/ re-install all of them and see if that sorts things out.
In writing my art blog I see a lot of different ways that people display their images. Often if they don’t have a custom site with gallery slideshows, many people will use Flickr as a free gallery site. You can arrange things in folders, display slideshows, etc. Just a thought.
Then again, I do love how you post pictures right in the blog entry – I like to just keep scrolling to look instead of clicking off on a link.
Really love your blog! You get so much done in your life – do you sleep? 🙂
