I really enjoy Claire Delahaye‘s design work. Her company, SlowGarden, in Marseilles France was responsible for that gorgeous red terrace I featured about a month or so ago as well as this cute makeover.
What I am loving about this is the fearless use of color and paint to transform the space. Certain colors definitely work better in different kids of light. The bright sunny light of the Mediterranean region works for fuchsia and turquoise. This color combination would not be so successful in the northern light of say, England. I am contemplating what works here where I live as I try to sort out a color to paint some old chairs. I think a butter yellow might work well here….It is something to think about as you plan a garden and particularly hardscaping. The answer is probably right in front of you….look around – perhaps at house colors, what looks good in your region and what doesn’t? What kids of colors work well with the natural light in your area?
