It’s the last day of school, and last Friday was my birthday (but I didn’t have a celebration drink with some friends, as I was in Colorado) so I am headed out to the local pond for an afternoon of frolicking in celebration of summer, school being out, and birthdays.   What could be better?

This morning, I realized that, for the first time, one of my rhubarb plants will give me a harvest in a usable quantity.  Combine that fact with this inspiration from the New York Times and I am suddenly all into infusing alcohol.   On my menu is Rhubarb Bourbon, Strawberry Vanilla Rum and I might even try the Strawberry Mint Bourbon.  – which I would use to make Strawberry Mint Juleps.   All except for the vanilla is abundant in my garden right now.   What are you harvesting now and what will you do with it?
