Maybe you have already seen this beautiful pool as it appears to be all over the blogshere, but I hadn’t and really I just find it breathtaking. So please accept my apologies for repetition.
This is Universe Beach House, designed by Tatiana Bilbao, and located somewhere on the shoreline of Mexico. The pool is on the roof of the house/ camp. The structure was built more on the concept of a camp with separate rooms interconnected only by outside passages.
I am fascinated by the construction framing of this whole thing. Digging a hole for a pool would have been incredibly disruptive to the pretty coast, probably very difficult given all the rock and I don’t think the results would have been nearly as successful.
I am frequently annoyed with building codes that require hand rails for exterior stairs because I often feel that they can detract from my design intent. It is interesting for me to see that Ms. Bilbao might feel the same, but in Mexico, she can get away with it. (though unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to have a relaxing vacation with my kids here).
I am not sure where you would put a lounger here though, It would feel disruptive to interrupt the clean lined flatness of it all with furniture.
