I work at the intersection of design, horticulture, culture, and systems—helping people and institutions think clearly, act deliberately, and create lasting impact.

How often do you visit the website of a house builder and find yourself cooing like you might over a baby panda. (aw cute….oh so sweet….precious…)

Is that a good thing?….funnily, oddly, I think so.

Charming and cleverly simple, I think the details are what make the small cottages that the husband and wife home-building team Adam Talianchich and Ashley Menger create, so special.

Their company Hatchworks, has only completed one project but the others that are in the works have so much charm potential. If this is an indicator of what is to come, I can’t wait to see more.

The interior details on their site are fabulous.

The stripe that has you pleased? Has me scratching my head. If that is wood siding, fine – it can be painted a new color or just out later. But if it’s vinyl? Oy. Not good.

Love that horizontal stripe…it’s so unexpected, but so charming, without any hint of pretense.
