The Kaufmann Mercantile Store is offering this rattan basket that is perfect for fruit and vegetable picking as well as farmers market visiting. Not only is it handy but it is a beautiful earthy object (like all the rest of the great stuff that the Kaufmann store offers). I am also really enjoying their blog, where they recently shared some interesting history about (similar) Adirondack pack baskets — Did you know that the most famous basket maker is woman named Dat-so-la-lee (1829-1925), aka Louisa Keyser, of the Washoe tribe in Nevada. A basket made by Dat So La Lee has fetched as much as $25,000 at auction. This one isn’t cheap ( a little over a hundred dollars) but I think it is still very nice…..
I would be tempted to hang that from a door or a wall and fill it with dried lavender and gather my tomatoes in a shopping bag. It’s just so pretty.
