Let me introduce you to Signe Persson-Melin, a Scandinavian ceramics designer whose creations I think will inspire you. When I happened across her work I was immediately surprised that a considerably talented product designer like her would have given the time to design something like garden pavers. Don’t garden pavers seem like one of those things that no one would ever think about improving upon, making radically different, or applying significant design thought to?
But that assumption immediately begs the question… (from me)… And why not? What she came up with is an interesting shape and a whole system of planters, pavers, and birdbaths that interlock and can be used to create an ever-changing series of designs.
Not to mention these sweet but rugged flower pots that come in metals, ceramics and plastic. I want many…in aluminum please. It is worth giving google a quick spin on Signe’s other work too. You might, like me, find lots of visual inspiration in her other designs (mostly housewares) – it is all clean lines, craftsmanship, and beautiful Scandinavian inspired details.
