For this week’s Before & After I have a lovely front yard transformation that I found over at Foodie is the New Forty. This sweet little ranch house begged for a yard that would make its mid century-esque exterior sing, but the homeowners knew it was going to take a lot of hard work and a hefty budget, as well as the help of a landscaping crew. Optimista (which is the moniker she goes by on her blog) was tired of the weeds and general frump-factor radiating from the exterior of the house, so she decided it was finally time and enlisted the help of Dearen Landscapes.
After 9 days of hard work, the team of bobcat wielding and shovel slinging landscapers were proud to show off the new yard. The oddly angled sidewalk was traded in for a much more welcoming path, which was rerouted to provide more interaction with existing elements– an idea given by Optimista’s friend, Kimberly Kohlhaas. All the borders were edged in steel and mulched in crushed limestone and new trees were added throughout. A huge dump truck hauled away the debris and the couple was able to stand back to admire a job well done. You can see more photos of the project over on her blog. Definitely worth a couple minutes. -erin

Love this one! Amazing how the change showcases the tree, and the house as well. The change with the path is brilliant. Makes all the difference.
Thank you so much for featuring our landscape project! I was so honored and delighted to discover this post (thanks to Google Analytics). We’ve SO enjoyed our new yard and are thrilled that you liked it, too. Thanks again! 🙂
