Do you miss the drive in? Me Too! What was the first movie you remember seeing? (yes I want to hear what it was) — Mine was Grease – My dad had a 1975 Dodge Ramcharger (it was huge – it later became my first car) and we took it to the drive-in in Pueblo, Colorado. It was the first time the sips of beer that my parents let me have didn’t put me to sleep — And I have loved that movie ever since.
We have a barn now…and if I can figure a not too expensive and not too chemically induced way of reducing the ticks and biting bugs, I want to hang a giant sheet on the side of it to create an outdoor movie theater. But here is the ultimate in personal drive-in home movie experiences…. Those designers at Belzberg Architects really rocked this project.
The last movie I saw at a Drive In was the horror movie ‘It Came from Within’ on a double bill with ‘Day of the Dead’.
If I had the view this project has I wouldn’t want the screen. I’m not even sure I’d want this in my backyard…but I know a few teenagers who would.
First drive in movie was seen from a Country Squire stationwagon, Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.
But we use to watch the drive in movies while sitting in a field of wild grasses on Cape Cod during the summer times.
The family summer cottage was within walking distance to one and my roving horde of siblings, cousins and friends would be given a bag of popcorn by our parents along with a blanket and off we all went. The younger kids would end up falling asleep and the older kids would bring them home in the back of a red wagon.
Apparently my first movie at the drive in was Grease too! Pity I was a baby though sleeping in the back seat. Wish I could remember it 🙂
