Recycle Plastic Garden Waste into Crude Oil

April 3, 2009

CONNECT:

I work at the intersection of design, horticulture, culture, and systems—helping people and institutions think clearly, act deliberately, and create lasting impact.

I read today at Project Green Industry about as company called Agri-Plas Inc. who is converting unwanted agricultural plastics into crude oil and shipping it to a refinery for commercial processing. I am so proud to be part of an industry that is not satisfied to rest our our already green laurels, and is instead working hard to make an ever bigger environmental difference in what we do.

Agri-Plas operates in Oregon and accepts many types of plastics including nursery pots and trays, ground cover, seed sacks, plastic binder twine, triple-rinsed pesticide containers and greenhouse film. It sounds like the operation is expanding quickly….visit Project Green Industry and Agri-Plas for more information about how you might be able to turn you pots into heat.
