Though it has been covered in the LA Times, The NY Times, on NPR, and probably countless other places, I still feel I want to share it here….just in case you missed it. There is a significant movement to bring returning military veterans into the farming community. Veterans Sustainable Agriculture Training helps soldiers heal, integrate and decompress as well as enabling them to become the new food hero’s that we all so desperately need. I have read each of these articles and quite frankly the whole thing brings tears to my eyes….I am so proud of the people that are organizing these programs and I am so proud of the veterans-cum-farmers.
One of most noted programs is at the farm called Archi’s Acres, but there are other programs at the University of New Hampshire as well as the University of Nebraska. (and hopefully more in the works!)
