Garden Gallery: A Polish Japanese Garden

CONNECT:

I work at the intersection of design, horticulture, culture, and systems—helping people and institutions think clearly, act deliberately, and create lasting impact.

Or maybe I should rephrase and say a Japanese style garden in a suburb of the polish city of Warsaw…

I have been working on a bigger post about specific Japanese garden design styles (hint: there isn’t just one and it isn’t called zen) so this garden from Ogrody magazine caught my eye.  Outside of japan we seem to have this tendency to lump all the elements of their various design styles into one big style (which we have generically called ‘zen’).  I generally works, but some times (like here, to some extent) I think it can get a bit busy and loose some of its intended meaning.   Regardless, I still like this garden and it caught my attention for its great mix of ideas — like the red circle in the wall, and the under-lit paths.
