Black Pools and Ponds

2/11/2009

Reading about Andy Sturgeon’s garden for the Chelsea Flower show in my previous post, I was intrigued by the black pond.  It is a dye, and the dye makes pools not only visually more attractive, but deeper looking, and thus the surface more reflective. Reading the product specs, they say it is OK for use in a swimming pool….but I have this really cute white swimsuit….I love the look….but I am not sure I am willing to take a risk.   I am also interested about product claims to help protect fish from predators and reduce algae growth.

Here and here are links to the two main products for dying your pool or pond.  You can achieve that sleek modern look with black or you can go for blue and try to make things a little more pastoral.

Have you used them?  I want to hear about your success…aversions…would you wear the white bikini in the dyed black pond??

Spread the love

I saw the black pool dye used at NYBG. It looked fabulous! I dipped my hand in the water and there was no residue when I pulled it out. I don’t know if cloth would be more absorptive than skin.
